THE BRIEF
After using GSuite for several years, Cambrian Printers opted to migrate their email system to Office 365. The primary motivators for the move were to take advantage of the additional features in Outlook and streamline/reduce costs in their Office Suite licencing.
OUR SOLUTION
When migrating email (and other) data we need to setup a migration task which sync’s all data from the old service to the new. The final cut-over (the point in time where mail is routed to the new service) is completed out of hours to ensure minimal disruption to the organisation. A team member is on site the next morning to make sure everything is configured for the new service and working correctly.
Working with Cambrian Printers we were able to streamline their distribution groups and shared mailboxes to make the workload more manageable. In addition, Cambrian Printers have been impressed with the additional features included in Office 365 such as SharePoint and of course the upgrade from Office 2010 to the new shiny 365 Suite.
Cambrian Printers now have a 3rd party email security system which helps safeguard against spam, malware and phishing attacks. These have become the scourge of the modern workplace and home alike, therefore we recommend using a security product to filter out these emails to all our customers.
A full cloud backup suite is in place to safeguard against lost/deleted emails and data.
Cambrian Printers have also used Exclaimer which is a system that automatically appends a customisable corporate signature to each email. This ensures a uniform signature which can be instantly changed across an entire organisation.
CONCLUSION
Email is a relatively ancient technology, which has evolved over the years and is still vital to any business big or small. Making changes to an existing system which has been in place for some time is a great opportunity to make improvements and gain a better understanding of interconnected systems which rely on it.
