Focus on Forestry First Ltd is a not for profit social enterprise company established in September 2016. As the company continues to grow, they were expanding their current office space into an adjoining section of the building.

The Brief
We were asked to install network and phone points in the new office space to accommodate a number of existing and new PC’s as well as to allow relocation of the server cabinet.
Our Solution
Following on from our discussion with the client and a check of the site, a plan of action was produced to ensure the solution is implemented as swiftly and with minimum disruption to the customer.
All the work required careful co-ordination with the client, third parties and our engineers.
The entrance connecting the two areas was going to be put where the server cabinet was situated, so this had to be sorted first. The cabinet was temporarily moved aside so the new doorway could be built.
Once the building and electrical work was complete the new office space had to be carefully planned in order to install network and phone points to accommodate several existing and new PC's.
Network cables were run from where the new cabinet will be located, through the roof space and into the new room. The cables were then run-down trunking, behind wooden panels and then finally terminated into network points around the room.
The server cabinet was temporarily moved for builders so also had to be moved to a new location. Everything in the cabinet was shut down and the existing old cables unpatched. The cabinet was then moved into its new location and the existing cabling was pulled back into the roof space, dropped down and patched into the cabinet alongside the new cabling.
As all the prep and initial work was complete the team set off to decommission all phones and PC’s and moved them carefully to their new locations. As with all our jobs we do a lot, we don’t just stick to the IT side. Desks were moved to new location as part of the job and once all was in place all equipment was set up in their new location including several new pc’s and phones that were set up in our office ready for the move.
All the above was done over the weekend and out of hours to minimise down time for our client. Set up and equipment was carefully tested prior to the handover to the client on Monday morning. Our engineers were on site for any snagging and to assist with smooth transition.
