It’s hard to believe it has been 18 years since the start of our venture to move to Wales and start a new business. What an amazing 18 years it has been! It hasn’t been without its challenges but despite this we have gone from strength to strength. We couldn’t be prouder of our incredible team and what has been achieved in those remarkable 18 years. Always humbled by our achievements, we don’t tend to shout enough about all the fantastic things we and our team achieve. From where it all started to where we are now, we are very proud indeed.
So, where did it all start?
It was a sunny afternoon in a pub garden in Buckinghamshire. Following a short discussion fuelled by the available refreshments, the idea was born. -You didn’t expect anything else, did you?
Mike had always wanted to return to his hometown of Builth Wells. There were no local companies providing the level of support he was used to, and he was passionate about bringing that service level to local businesses. So, from that sunny day, he set off on a mission to do just that…
A few months later. Mike and Kat moved to Builth Wells and 5C services was born in November 2004.
Our first office was a tiny room at the end of the high street, which didn’t even have internet for some time, but that didn’t stop us. -There were plenty of pubs in Builth to keep the courage going.
Another few months and we took on our first 2 employees. A year later, we moved our office to the Courtyard where we continued to grow. Many memories were made during our time there. As the business continued to expand, we were bursting at the seams for a few years, unable to find a suitable space for that next step in expansion.
In true 5C style, 2021 brought our next project – our new office (a reck of a building, in need of complete renovation). Against the odds, in just 5 short months the office was ready, and we made our move to Newbridge-on-Wye. Space is no longer our constraint, and we can now focus on the future growing our team. -Don’t worry, we have the suitable refreshments next door to carry on with brainstorming for years to come.
In those years we have learnt quite a few valuable lessons. Some years were easier than others but each year made us stronger, more resilient and most importantly better at what we do – for both our customers and our fantastic team.
Our core values have never changed, and to date, we have stayed true to them. Our customers are at the heart of what we do. We are friendly, honest and approachable at all times. Our business has grown organically from customer recommendations, our reputation speaking for itself. Providing no nonsense support to businesses throughout Wales, we will stand by our values for as long as we do.
So, how did we manage this? With a great team behind us of course !
