B Jenkins and Sons is family run business that have been builders since 1880 and builder’s merchants since 1980. They continue to serve Brecon and surrounding areas with first class building materials, Kitchen and Bathroom sales and a comprehensive Hire Shop.

The Brief:

  • To provide an ongoing and flexible internal move and change to virtual solution.
  • Resources required to undertake full site audits pre move and complete structured hardware testing at sites.
  • Coordinate with client and number of software providers and manage the project to completion.

Our Solution:

5C Services Ltd have dedicated full-time project managers, with an experienced and flexible resource pool. This allowed 5C Services to provide B Jenkins & Son Ltd with a designated point of contact, who has full knowledge of the project. They are able to help with any pre or post planning, and to answer any questions throughout the process. The needs of client are of paramount importance. Work is carried out in such a manner that B Jenkins & Son Ltd is able to operate its business at optimum capacity.  Following a full audit and discussion with the client and the software vendor provisioned for the new MIS system the recommendation were made to provide a robust future proof system to replace their current outdated systems.

Each install carried out by 5C Services is tailored exclusively to the requirements and constraints of that particular project.

A new VMware solution was quoted proving substantial cost savings for the number of servers to be provisioned, old equipment was identified as part of an adequate backup and disaster recovery plan based on B Jenkins & Sons requirements.

Following a liaison with the Software suppliers for the MIS system the new system was provisioned.  All users were moved over with minimal downtime.  Hosted email was implemented allowing for collaboration between users while security was implemented at the end point and another at the gateway with a Unified threat management (UTM) device allowing for internet security.

Veeam provided backup and full replication of the virtual servers as well as an offsite backup setup for key data.  Axel thin clients were configured and deployed connecting to Microsoft RDS servers proving an robust system for the environment unsuitable for standard PC’s.  Whilst workstations were upgraded as required. 

The last stage in process is to provide full IT support for the new system, monitoring and provision SSL VPN access for remote users.
