The Brief
Aber Instruments Ltd, a leading manufacturer of a range of on-line probes for measuring or counting the live cell concentration in fermenters, cell culture bioreactors and in brewing applications, had been using Sophos SafeGuard Enterprise for several years to secure their sensitive data. However, due to the end-of-life announcement for the software, they needed to find an alternative solution.
After careful consideration, we decided to migrate to Conpal LanCrypt, a data encryption software that offered similar features.
Our Solution
The migration from SafeGuard Enterprise to Conpal LanCrypt presented several challenges for Aber Instruments Ltd. Some of the key challenges included:
Compatibility: The two software solutions had different architectures, which posed a risk of compatibility issues during the migration.

User training: 5C Services Ltd provided training to Aber Instruments Ltd's employees on how to use Conpal LanCrypt.
The migration from SafeGuard Enterprise to Conpal LanCrypt was completed without any major issues. Aber Instruments Ltd was able to securely access all their sensitive data to the new software solution. The encryption keys generated by SafeGuard Enterprise were seamlessly imported and used within Conpal LanCrypt, which prevented any data and access loss. The employees were trained on how to use Conpal LanCrypt and were able to start using the software immediately.
CONCLUSION
The migration from SafeGuard Enterprise to Conpal LanCrypt was a challenging task, but despite the risks and complexities involved, we were able to securely migrate Aber Instruments Ltd sensitive data to the new software solution with minimal disruption. With the seamless transition using the existing encryption keys, Aber Instruments Ltd was able to ensure the security of their data, without the need for any data decryption.
